Installed in an industrial building dating from 1912, formerly a diesel station and tramway depot, the CCA is the first permanent institution of its kind in the region, conceived as an interdisciplinary space dedicated to research, exhibitions, and community engagement. The transformation of this heritage site is being led by Studio KO architects, who are breathing new life into the historic structure.
Artistic direction is overseen by Dr Sara Raza, the Centre’s Chief Curator. The CCA launched its inaugural year of programming in September 2025 and will open its first group exhibition, Hikmah – meaning “wisdom” in Uzbek – in March 2026.
The Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan (ACDF) commissioned l’art en plus to support the strategy, positioning, and branding of the CCA, with the aim of establishing Tashkent – and Uzbekistan more broadly – as a leading cultural destination, extending its influence across Central Asia and onto the international stage. The opening of CCA Tashkent forms part of ACDF’s series of ambitious cultural projects, from the launch of the first Bukhara Biennale in 2025 to the opening of the National Museum of Uzbekistan, designed by Tadao Ando, in 2028, as well as hosting the 23rd UNESCO Conference in Samarkand in November 2025 and the creation of the Jadids’ Legacy Museum in Bukhara, entrusted to architect Lina Ghotmeh.
l’art en plus, supported by a team of expert consultants assembled specifically for the project, also developed the new graphic identity for CCA Tashkent and its visual applications (VIP invitations, posters, advertisements, signage, etc.), as well as the Centre’s new website. The agency additionally coordinated the content strategy and production for social media in preparation for and throughout the launch of the CCA’s inaugural year of programming.
For this ambitious project, l’art en plus is collaborating with David Desrimais and Atelier Pierre Pierre (Art Direction and Website), Julien Grollemund (Brand Strategy), and Marc Beyney-Sonier and Gelya Moreau (Social Media and Video).
